GENEVA PIMPING

I read this article last month on www.forbes.com about Geneva being ranked 3rd on this year's "World's Best places to Live" list. I didn't really want to put this up until I saw this garbage can by the lake downtown Geneva this weekend... LOL.

European cities dominate Mercer's list, which rates 420 global cities on the basis of the political and social environment (including stability, crime and law enforcement); the strength of the economy; restrictions, such as censorship and limitations on personal freedom; the quality of health care as well as exposure to infectious diseases; and school quality. In addition, it looked at recreation, theaters, sports activities, access to grocery markets, the availability and cost of housing, as well as the climate and susceptibility to natural disasters.
It's a mouthful of criteria, to be sure. Cities were ranked on an index where New York City was 100. Vienna, for example, scored a 108.6, Zürich, Switzerland, came in second at 108, Geneva was next at 107.9 and Vancouver notched a win for North America by finishing fourth at 107.4. At the bottom, by contrast, were Baghdad, at 14.4; Bangui, the politically corrupt capital of the Central African Republic at 29.3, and N'Djamena, Chad, notable for it's difficult pronunciation and constant rebel attacks, at 31.3.
For the first time, Mercer also evaluated cities on the basis of their infrastructure, including electricity supply, water availability, telephone and mail services, public transportation, traffic congestion and the range of international flights from local airports.

Well, what can I say, the better team won and I lost my bets. CR7 had his chances but couldn't score. Iniesta and Xavi were great. Piqué got his revenge and stopped his ex-teammates. Eto'o didn't panic in front of Van Der Sar and scored in the 10th minute. Messi got air in between 2 giants and lobbed a 3rd one with a beautiful header in the 70th minute and Henry finally got to lift up the CL trophy (I was so wrong). Victory well deserved. Barca controlled the game stayed focus and dominated. They had massive ball possesion and didn't panic. Pep Guardiola did a great job with his team this year by winning La Liga, La Copa del Rey and the Champion's League.
PS, This should confirm Messi's "Ballon d'or 2009" status...

GETTING READY FOR THE BIG GAME TONIGHT

I AM IN A FOOTBALL MOOD TODAY! I mean football as in soccer not no shoulder pads wearing bullsh*t. LOL... The first thing I did when I woke up this morning was reach for my "Rooney" Jersey for tonight!!! Yes, I'm gonna say this for the last time; choosing between Man Utd and Barça is like choosing between parents, almost impossible. They're my 2 favorite teams since a kid... Yes Barça has the sexiest offensive game this year but all that won't matter tonight in Rome, Long story short, I'm going with Man Utd because I believe in Sir Ferguson, plus Man Utd's defense is too solid. I'm also sick of everyone jumping on the Barça bandwagon, talking about how great Messi is blablabla... Messi will get neutralised tonight (Giggs will probably take Fletcher's spot, with Carrick and Anderson in midfield), Park and Rooney will block both sides and defend like the pitbulls they are and CR7 will be up front. Vidic, Ferdinand, Evra and O'Shea will be the Great wall of China in the Back and Barça won't do shit.... then again I could be completely wrong but I doubt it. The Red Devils are too strong mentally and physically, they're programmed to win and Thierry Henry is programmed to never lift up the Champion's League trophy, sorry. I just hope tonight's Swiss referee won't fuck it all up with an unnessesary red card.

I listened to a lot of old stuff last week. I got Interviewed for this documentary movie the other day about “the love of music” for this Swiss TV producer (Philippe Mach TSR, Temps Present). Danger Mouse, the Grammy-nominated producer behind such acts as Gnarls Barkley, MF Doom, Gorillaz and the critically-acclaimed Grey Album, has decided to take a stand against his label.
After legal battles over the release of his new album, EMI reportedly decided to shelve DM latest effort, Dark Night Of The Soul. According to Gizmodo, DM came up with the idea to put out a book of 100 photographs shot by famed director David Lynch (Twin Peaks) as well as a blank CD. On the disc it states, “For Legal Reasons, enclosed CD-R contains no music. Use it as you will,” alluding to fans to burn leaked versions of the album. DNOTS can currently be heard for free on NPR's website.
As of press time it is uncertain when the package for the album will hit shelves. – Elan Mancini

CAN'T HEAR NOTHING BUT THE MUSIC PT 3

I will start by saying that I’m about to go buy my homie Nostra’s album today!!! Now what else have I been listening to these last couple of days?.....ohh yeah, I got a fat package from Universal last week with some new releases; Meth & Red’s Blackout2! album is ok, (and for those of you who have been following the whole Joe Budden vs Method Man "beef" thing, I do believe that today, on the lyricist tip, Joe get’s the w on this one. When it comes to stage performance and Charisma Tical is superdope but line for line emotional lyrics today, Buddens is insane wit it, sorry Mef). I’m somehow "kinda" disappointed in Busta’s album, I don’t know why, I guess I just expected more. I'm a have to listen to it again and hopefully I'll change my mind. Em’s Relapse is entertaining, beats are ok, not great, I said ok. That Bagpipes track is dooope... Technically and lyrically Em is still a monster on every song even with the weird voice. (and, isn't it very weird seeing Kon Artist as Em’ hype man for the live performances? Proof RIP). click here and juge for yourself... Besides "Maybach Music 2" and that "Usual Suspects" track with Nas, I can’t listen to Rick Ross no more. That whole thing with him wearing FAKE Louis Vutton shades on the cover of XXL was the very last straw on my camel’s back. I do however, Still get a kick out of that Lonely Island “I’m on a Boat” track (you know the one where T Pain f*cked a mermaid – LOL). I still got Oxmo in my kitchen stereo every night. I just heard a dope track called “Tears of Fire” from Charles Hamilton feat Crooked I last night which is dope even though it's just a myspace rip I got from 2dopeboys. I’ve also been listening to a lot of Subdelux lately. We’ve been in the studio working on new material, recording, mixing… we just mastered the Rockstar joint too this weekend (video coming soon). I CAN'T HEAR NOTHING BUT THE MUSIC PT 2

So here are some of the things I’ve been pumping last week. A lot of Oxmo in the kitchen. You know an album is great when you can’t choose a favorite song cuz there are too many to choose from. (Masterciel, Arme de Paix, Partir 5 min, A Sense Inverse, J’te Connaissais Pas) The whole album is great. I listened to Jadakiss’ album a little bit in the car, Lyrics and flow are cool, beats are ok, I expected more but I do like that track with the Luther Vandross sample. (check'em both out here)

11 MINUTES WITH DE LA SOUL

This is one of my favorite groups of all time. I still remember exactly where I was the first time I ever heard "Me, Myself and I". I was in my room listening to Radio Couleur 3, I think I was like 16 and I literally went crazy!!! The fact that this was on Swiss radio was just mind blowing. I was stuck up in the hills of Moudon, not knowing what was happening to me. The groove, the flow, the sound, simply amazing!!!! Plus "Knee Deep" is also one of my favorite Funkadelics joints...
PS, Every rhyme they spit is still a hiphop quotable!!!
